Terna’s “Fast Reserve” Service Presentation
On September 15, EASE hosted a webinar on “Fast Reserve”, a new market product and grid service developed and launched by the Italian TSO Terna.
The new service offer improved stability in grid frequency (alongside primary reserve and other grid services), and provide a continuous and automatic response in terms of active power within a second of the event triggering its activation.
During the webinar Terna provided a detailed presentation of the product; a Q&A session followed.
Giovanni Giansiracusa, Market Strategy, Terna
Giovanni Giansiracusa has been working as an energy analyst for more than three years. He started working in 2016 in the academic world, as visiting researcher, at Plataforma Solar de Almeria (Spain). In 2017 he worked at Waterford Energy Bureau (Ireland) as an assistant engineer, helping the local community to receive national grants for energy efficiency projects or installation of renewable energy plants. In 2018 he moved to Terna, the Italian TSO of electricity, where he is currently working. In Terna he developed deep experience in power market modeling and analysis, ancillary services market design, and integration of new technologies with the system (e.g. storage, demand-side response). He is passionate about commodity markets and strongly believes in the central role of the power system to drive the whole energy sector towards a zero-carbon future.
